Mashup Score: 22Clarifying the Natural History of Transthyretin Cardiac Amyloidosis: Insights From the ATTRibute-CM Trial - American College of Cardiology - 14 day(s) ago
In the phase 3 ATTRibute-CM (Efficacy and Safety of Acoramidis in Transthyretin Amyloid Cardiomyopathy) trial, whose results were published in the New England Journal of Medicine, 1 acoramidis was compared with placebo in patients with symptomatic transthyretin (TTR) cardiac amyloidosis. Acoramidis was found to have benefits in all-cause mortality, cardiovascular (CV)–related hospitalizations, N-terminal pro–B-type natriuretic peptide level, and 6-min walk distance (6MWD). Acoramidis is a more potent

Mashup Score: 12Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction: everything the clinician needs to know - 2 month(s) ago
Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is increasingly recognised and diagnosed in clinical practice, a trend driven by an ageing population and a rise in contributing comorbidities, such as obesity and diabetes. Representing at least half of all heart failure cases, HFpEF is recognised as a complex clinical syndrome. Its diagnosis and management are challenging due to its diverse pathophysiology, varied epidemiological patterns, and evolving diagnostic and treatment approaches. This Seminar synthesises the latest insights on HFpEF, integrating findings from recent clinical trials, epidemiological research, and the latest guideline recommendations.

Author links open overlay panel Rebecca Crosier MD a, Thais Coutinho MD b As humans age, elastic fibres in the aorta’s tunica media succumb to repetitive pulsatile stress, leading to g radual fracture and rarefaction of the fibres. Over time, collagen—a tensile fibre—is deposited instead, resulting in increased aortic stiffness, and decreased aortic ability to buffer the pulsatile pressure generated by the beating left ventricle. However, there are sex differences in arterial aging, with older females
