Mashup Score: 69Subcision modification to prevent intraoperative blood spillage and to keep the needle aligned - 8 day(s) ago
The traditional subcision is often associated with the spurting of blood from the needle hub and rotation of the beveled end of the needle. These issues lead to obscuring the operative field, the need for an assistant, increase procedure time, and rarely ineffective subcision. Various modifications like bending the needle, holding the needle with artery forceps, and marking the needle have been reported in the past to prevent the rotation of the needle.

Diet plays an emerging role in dermatologic therapy. The ketogenic and low-glycemic diets have potential anti-inflammatory and metabolic effects, making them attractive for treating inflammatory skin conditions. We provide an overview of the current evidence on the effects of ketogenic and low-glycemic diets on inflammatory skin conditions including acne, psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis (SD), atopic dermatitis (AD), and hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). We conclude that low-glycemic diets show promise for treating acne, while the evidence for ketogenic diets in treating other inflammatory skin conditions is limited. Randomized clinical trials are needed to explore the efficacy of these diets as stand-alone or adjunctive treatments for inflammatory skin conditions.

To overcome the shortcomings of the traditional subcision, authors of this JAAD article propose a simpler modification of subcision by using only a 3-way stopcock. #dermtwitter ➡️ https://t.co/JtinpHI3aw https://t.co/ZxJmGyLJTg
