Celebrating people in life and at work is just the best. It is one of my favorite things. “Rewards and recognition” aren’t what they used to be, and “fun at work” isn’t a pie-in-the-sky dream. Celebrating people and special days at work is fun for everyone. It feels good to have fun with colleagues, and it feels good to develop these special days and events for team members. They don’t have to be gigantic (it’s actually better if they’re not), and it doesn’t have to be a stress-filled planning effort.

Mashup Score: 0Give Grace to Grow - Joni Watson - 15 day(s) ago
Grace. It’s a beautiful word. I use it a lot in health care – to talk about professionals in their work in addition to encouraging professionals as they learn. We live and work in an immediate culture. We have to have and do and be everything – all at once – now. It seems as though there is little…

It’s Laboratory Professionals Week, so break out the puns and celebrate these team members who remain so fluid, doing all the bloody work, making beautiful specimens of colleagues. Yeah, we love these people…even if they do have to tell us we need another sample because the first hemolyzed. Here’s some cards for the week. Download, print front-and-back on some…

Mashup Score: 0Slow Progress is Still Progress - Joni Watson - 22 day(s) ago
Slow. Slooow. Slooooooooooow. Like a snail moving-in-molasses-on-a-cold-day slow. It’s painful. Especially to those who are accustomed to quick movements, stealth flow, and instant responses. It’s almost unbearable. And, yes, for some, it’s definitively unbearable and they must move on to save themselves. Adapt or die. This is true for the brain, as well. I get that. I…

Sometimes stealth just won’t cut it. The “yesterday” deadline is [yawn] over-rated, & the only way success is measured is inch-by-oh-my-save-me-this-is-painful-inch & moment-by-Really?–I-feel-like-I’ve-been-at-this-forever-moment. Progress is #progress. https://t.co/7gbnKCIYC8 https://t.co/Z06ZOyHjbe

Spring is a holy season. From March through May, there are about 29 religious holidays across Bahá’Ă, Buddhist, Catholic, Christian, Eastern Orthodox, Hindu, Islam, Jewish, Persian, and Sikh faiths ranging in meaning, special worship, and work restrictions (Jesuit Resource, 2024). In a randomized Gallup poll (Jones, 2023), 82% of respondents indicated they are religious (47%), spiritual (33%), or both (2%), which has steadily declined since 1999. According to the Pew Research Center (Alper et al., 2023), 83% of U.S.
