Background The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the end of the COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) global public health emergency on May 5, 2023, but its long-term consequences have still been haunting the global population. Post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC) and long-term COVID-19 are serious concerns and present with various symptoms. Background The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted public health, with emerging evidence suggesting substantial effects on maternal and neonatal health. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to quantify the prevalence and risk of respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) in newborns born to mothers infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19. Methods We conducted a literature search in Embase, PubMed, and Web of Science up to April 20, without language or date restrictions. Observational studies reporting on the prevalence or risk of RDS among newborns from mothers with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection were included. Quality assessment was performed using the JBI tool. Statistical analysis was performed by using R software version 4.3. Results Twenty-two studies met the inclusion criteria. Background Immunosuppressive therapies are associated with a risk of infections. Nevertheless, their incidence in this population remains unclear. This study aims to determine the incidence of serious respiratory tract infections (SRI) in a population exposed to immunosuppressive therapies. Methods Data from a representative sample of the French healthcare claims from 01/01/2014 to 12/31/2019 were analyzed. Exposure to immunosuppressive therapy was defined by the dispensation of drugs through community pharmacies or in hospitals. SRI diagnosis was based on ICD-10 codes from hospitalization records. A cohort analysis was performed to estimate standardized SRI incidence rates. A nested case-control analysis within this cohort was used to study the characteristics associated with SRI. Background Although liver transplant (LT) recipients are considered a population at risk of severe features of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), data in this regard are scarce and controversial. In this study, we reported the outcome of 24 cases of LT recipients who were hospitalized due to COVID-19 and investigated the role-playing factors in the severity of the disease. Methods In this single-center, analytic case-series study, eligible patients were among LT recipients who were hospitalized due to the diagnosis of COVID-19 based on positive results of polymerase chain reaction. Participants were categorized as severe COVID-19 if they were admitted to the intensive care unit, experienced respiratory failure demanding mechanical ventilation, or eventually died. Demographic and clinical data, COVID-19 symptoms and specific treatments, laboratory biomarkers, and immunosuppressive regimens and their alteration during the admission were recorded.
