Mashup Score: 11Endoscopic closure of refractory external pancreatic fistula by injecting metal coil in the fistula tract - 15 hour(s) ago
A 34-year-old woman underwent distal pancreatectomy for mucinous cystadenoma. Postoperatively she experienced an external pancreatic fistula (EPF) with a daily drain output of 300 to 500 mL/day of amylase-rich fluid. After 3 weeks of conservative treatment had failed, she underwent endoscopic retrograde pancreatography (ERP). The pancreatic duct (PD) was disrupted at the distal end, with extravasation of contrast material into the fistula tract. After pancreatic sphincterotomy, a 7F 10-cm transpapillary PD stent was placed.

Mashup Score: 15Endoscopist adenomas-per-colonoscopy detection rates and risk for postcolonoscopy colorectal cancer: Data from the New Hampshire Colonoscopy Registry - 20 hour(s) ago
Adenomas per colonoscopy (APC) may be a better measure of colonoscopy quality than adenoma detection rate (ADR) because it credits endoscopists for each detected adenoma. There are few data examining the association between APC and postcolonoscopy colorectal cancer (PCCRC) incidence. We used data from the New Hampshire Colonoscopy Registry to examine APC and PCCRC risk.

ERCP is a complex endoscopic procedure in which the center’s procedure volume influences outcomes. With the increasing healthcare expenses and limited resources, promoting cost-effective care becomes essential for healthcare provision. This study performed a cost-effectiveness analysis to evaluate the hypothesis that high-volume (HV) centers perform ERCP with higher quality at lower costs than low-volume (LV) centers.

Mashup Score: 31Exploring the utility of endoscopic ultrasound in Budd-Chiari syndrome : a multi-center multi-observer prospective cohort study - 2 day(s) ago
The diagnosis of Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) is essentially radiological and is needed to plan appropriate therapy. We therefore conducted this proof of concept study to assess the utility of EUS in assessing anatomy of BCS.

Mashup Score: 11Biliary cast syndrome developed after treatment for acute cholangitis: progression to secondary sclerosing cholangitis - 2 day(s) ago
An 81-year-old man, without prior inflammatory biliary disease, underwent ERCP and endoscopic sphincterotomy for cholangitis resulting from common bile duct stones. One week after hospital discharge, he experienced fever, and the results of liver function tests were abnormal. MRCP indicated poor visualization, but prominent dilatations were observed in the intrahepatic ducts. ERCP revealed intraductal-filling translucent images from the hilar to the intrahepatic bile ducts (A). Cytologic analysis of the bile did not identify a malignancy.

Mashup Score: 12Safety and tolerability outcomes of nonanesthesiologist-administered propofol using target-controlled infusion in routine GI endoscopy - 4 day(s) ago
Nonanesthesiologist-administered propofol (NAAP) is increasingly accepted, but data are limited on drug administration using target-controlled infusion (TCI) in clinical practice. TCI adjusts the drug infusion based on patient-specific parameters, maintaining a constant drug dose to reduce the risk of adverse events (AEs) because of drug overdosing and to enhance patient comfort. The aims of this study were to assess the rate of AEs and to evaluate patient satisfaction with NAAP using TCI in a retrospective cohort of 18,302 procedures.

Plasma levels of renalase decrease in acute experimental pancreatitis. We aimed to determine if decreases in plasma renalase levels after ERCP predict the occurrence of post-ERCP pancreatitis (PEP).
