Onconephrology focuses on management of kidney disease in cancer, which manifests itself in a variety of clinical syndromes, including acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, proteinuria, and electrolyte disorders. Many of these syndromes result from cancer treatments including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, chimeric antigen receptor T cells, and stem cell transplant. Others are due to kidney-specific effects of the cancer, as seen with monoclonal gammopathy or glomerular diseases associated with malignancy.

Mashup Score: 56Urology Residency Program Directors’ Criteria for... : JU Open Plus - 1 month(s) ago
-eight of 148 PDs (32.4%) responded to the survey. When evaluating whether to interview an applicant, the highest ranked criterion of the 9 options listed was sub-internship (sub-I) performance at the PD’s institution, followed by letters of recommendation (LORs), preference signal (PS) sent to institution, and grades on surgery clerkships. The differences between these top 4 criteria were not statistically significant. Only 23% of PDs were likely to interview applicants who did not complete a sub-I with or send a PS to their program; 23% were neutral. However, 51% of PDs were likely to interview an applicant who sent them a PS, even if the applicant did not complete any sub-Is in their geographic region or send a geographic preference signal to their region; 31% were neutral. Only 21% of PDs were likely to interview applicants who did not submit a Step 2 score with their application; 44% were neutral. Conclusions: Sub-I performance is the most important factor for urology PDs, highlig

Mashup Score: 1Wearable technology and the cardiovascular system: the future of patient assessment - 1 month(s) ago
The past decade has seen a dramatic rise in consumer technologies able to monitor a variety of cardiovascular parameters. Such devices initially recorded markers of exercise, but now include physiological and health-care focused measurements. The public are keen to adopt these devices in the belief that they are useful to identify and monitor cardiovascular disease. Clinicians are therefore often presented with health app data accompanied by a diverse range of concerns and queries. Herein, we assess whether these devices are accurate, their outputs validated, and whether they are suitable for professionals to make management decisions.
