Mashup Score: 0Donate to Amy Moore's Fundraiser for My FGM Story by Kenya Works - 2 year(s) ago
It’s the cutting season. The school year has ended and the longest school break is also the time when girls are at the highest risk of female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage. So, it’s also peak season for Kenya Works to travel across Kenya reaching remote communities known to be practicing FGM. Training girls and their communities about the devastating effects FGM has on girls’ bodies and futures is core to ending this human rights violation everywhere. We invite you to meet our hero, Lucy who attended a Kenya Works anti-FGM forum in 2018 as a vulnerable girl at this exact moment in her life. Lucy found her voice to stand against the powerful traditions imposed by family and community. She represents a new generation of voices demanding equality and bodily autonomy, standing against local customs that hold girls and women back from achieving their full potential. Join Lucy and Kenya Works in the movement to #EndFGM.
