Mashup Score: 137Hepatorenal Syndrome in Cirrhosis - 9 day(s) ago
Hepatorenal syndrome (HRS) is a form of kidney dysfunction that characteristically occurs in liver cirrhosis. It is characterized by a marked impairment of kidney function in response to circulatory and hemodynamic alterations that occur in advanced stages of liver cirrhosis, aggravated by systemic inflammation and bacterial translocation. The classical definitions of the types of HRS have been recently revisited and 2 forms of HRS have been redefined: the acute form, referred to as acute kidney injury (HRS-AKI), and the chronic form, referred to as chronic kidney disease.

Mashup Score: 10A Seemingly Benign Pancreatic Cyst With an Unsettling Trend of Enlarging Size and Associated Symptoms - 11 day(s) ago
Question: A 62-year-old woman was incidentally diagnosed with a well circumscribed hypoattenuating cyst in the head of the pancreas during a computed tomographic (CT) scan while being evaluated for nonspecific colitis. Subsequent magnetic resonance imaging confirmed the presence of a well circumscribed, T1-hypointense, T2-hyperintense cystic mass measuring 3.5 × 3.3 cm in the head of the pancreas (Figure A). Mild dilation was observed in the common bile duct secondary to an earlier cholecystectomy.
